Aislinn runner-up in global art competition
St George's Year 13 student Aislinn H has been named the runner-up in the Key Stage 5 category in the annual COBIS Art Competition.
This year's competition received entries from 168 schools worldwide. Aislinn's artwork, titled 'Magical Moments' demonstrated 'exceptional talent', according to the judges, and will be published on the COBIS (Council of British International Schools) website soon.
In a letter to Aislinn, judges Adele Darlington and Jenny Muncaster said: "We were drawn to this interesting submission. The choice of cardboard as a canvas has created an unusual background and the mixed media approach provided us with lots to discuss and think about. The simple oil pastel and print work images are playful and childlike in contrast to the serene, delicate capture of the child, lost in a moment, beautifully depicted in acrylic paint. We could feel the sun on our skin and hear the birds singing in the trees as we got lost in the scene!”
