Economics students reach Generation €uro final

29 April 2026

Two St George's Year 12 teams reached the national final of the Generation €uro Students' Award in Luxembourg on Monday, 27 April 2026.

The Challenge
The finalists visited the Banque Centrale du Luxembourg (BCL) to present their original monetary policy decisions. Acting as members of the ECB Governing Council, they had to determine the ideal interest rate level to maintain price stability in the euro area.

The Presentation
Faced with a panel of expert judges and senior central bank economists, St George's teams delivered a professional presentation followed by a demanding Q&A session. They were tested on their understanding of complex economic indicators, historical trends and current global events.

What’s Next?
The students will compete against five other top-tier teams from across Luxembourg. The final results will be announced on Tuesday, 5 May.

All finalists are recognised for their hard work with a certificate of achievement and a prize from the BCL. The overall winners will secure a study trip to the European Central Bank in Frankfurt and a summer internship at the BCL.

Congratulations to Adriana, Eileen, Eleonore, Zoi, Darcy Edward, Gabriel and Joao for their dedication and for representing St George's so brilliantly at the national level!
