STUDENT JOURNEY

Looking to the Future

At St George’s, we don’t just educate our students. We prepare them for a fulfilling future in a rapidly changing world.

We believe that education is about much more than examination results. Beyond academic success, we equip students with the skills, mindset and adaptability needed to thrive in the workplaces of the future.

Our dedicated, highly experienced Key Stage 5 Pastoral Team provide ongoing support and guidance to students as they navigate their final two years of school. They work closely with individuals to offer tailored advice, pastoral care and encouragement during this important stage of their education.

Alongside this, our Careers Consultant helps students to explore their strengths, set ambitious goals and make informed decisions about their next steps. Through personalised guidance, university counselling and hands-on experiences, we ensure our students are prepared to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

‘Career’ describes our journey through life, learning and work. A career is the paid and unpaid roles one undertakes throughout a lifetime, including life roles, leisure activities, learning and work.

Career guidance and future planning

Our structured career education programme begins in Key Stage 3 and continues through Key Stages 4 and 5, providing tailored guidance and real-world exposure at every stage.

Key Stage 3: Early Career Exploration
Students are introduced to career planning through PSHE lessons, giving them early insights into future pathways. Sons & Daughters to Work Day offers firsthand workplace experience, while Enterprise Day nurtures entrepreneurial skills. To help students explore academic options, we offer GCSE and BTEC taster lessons as well as access to the Unifrog platform, which supports informed decision-making about education and careers.
Key Stage 4: Practical Experience and Guidance
As students progress, career education continues through PSHE lessons and dedicated career assemblies. A one-week work placement provides invaluable real-world experience, helping students develop essential workplace skills. Leadership Day fosters confidence and teamwork, while one-to-one careers guidance interviews ensure personalised support. To help students make informed post-Year 11 choices, they participate in A-level and BTEC taster lessons, with Unifrog remaining a key resource for exploring future education and career options.
Key Stage 5: University and Career Preparation

In their final years, students have dedicated time for future planning through an extended PSHE programme, including workshops and personalised guidance from our Careers Adviser, form tutors and Key Stage 5 staff. They benefit from an annual careers fair and regular lunchtime career talks with external professionals, including alumni. Weekly university meetings introduce students to global higher education options and provide support with applications. For early university applicants, our Omega Club, running for more than 10 years, offers targeted preparation, including guidance on entrance tests for competitive fields such as medicine and veterinary science. Throughout Key Stage 5, Unifrog continues to be an essential tool, helping students make well-informed decisions about their next steps.

St George’s is the only school in Luxembourg that has achieved the Quality in Careers Standard Award and the only school in Luxembourg that has a careers programme starting in Year 7.

Exams

Success looks different for everyone and we are proud of every single one of our students and their achievements. This year we celebrate yet another set of excellent examination results across GCSE, AS, A level and BTEC qualifications.

Our students' outcomes reflect their commitment, resilience and ambition, supported at every stage by the dedication of our outstanding teachers. Each year we publish our examination results not only to recognise the hard work of our students, but also to inspire our younger learners as they look ahead to their own academic journeys.
