Student Leadership
We believe that leadership is a vital skill that should be nurtured from an early age.
Our student leadership opportunities empower students to develop confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of initiative. Students learn to represent their peers, drive positive change and contribute to the school community in meaningful ways.
Here are some ways our students are developing their leadership skills and making a difference.
Primary School Council
Our Primary School Council provides young students with a voice and a platform to make a difference in their school environment. Elected representatives from each class from Year 2 to Year 6 (19 councillors in total) work together to discuss ideas, propose improvements and collaborate on school projects. Their main role is to represent the students, collecting their thoughts and opinions on different agendas, such as school values, canteen operations and charity events. They are also involved in interviewing new staff members and working with Secondary’s Student Parliament. A highlight in recent years was giving a school tour to Claude Wiseler, the President of Luxembourg’s Chamber of Deputies.
Being a member of the School Council helps students develop teamwork, leadership, communication and decision-making skills while developing a culture of active participation and respect for different perspectives.
Secondary Student Parliament
In Secondary student leadership takes on a more advanced role through our Student Parliament. Members of Student Parliament join one of three ministries – the Ministry of Careers and Education, the Ministry of Health and Wellbeing or the Ministry of Diversity and Culture. Through student-led initiatives, members learn how to advocate for their peers, propose meaningful initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of school life.
Secondary School Leadership Team
At the pinnacle of student leadership, our Senior School Leadership Team serves as role models and ambassadors for the school. Selected for their dedication, leadership qualities and commitment to the school community, they represent student voice in key discussions, organise events and community initiatives, and support younger students in their academic and personal growth. Working closely with school leadership, they play a key role in ensuring a positive school environment and inspiring their peers to strive for excellence.
Eco-Agents
Sustainability and environmental responsibility are key pillars of St George’s. Our Eco-Agents are a dedicated team of students committed to promoting environmental awareness and action. They lead initiatives such as recycling programmes, energy conservation and awareness campaigns and tree-planting and upcycling projects. By taking an active role in protecting the environment, our Eco-Agents inspire their peers and the wider community to adopt sustainable practices and make a positive impact on the planet. Wearing bright green hoodies, our Eco-Agents are easy to spot not just at St George’s but during conferences, meetings and other events across Luxembourg where they raise awareness about our impact on the planet and what we can do to reduce it.
