Convincing win for St George's girls
17 June 2026
St George's Year 6 girls' football team put on a spectacular performance away at Michel Lucius to win 3-0 on Thursday, 11 June 2026. St George's controlled the game from start to finish, led by a true captain's performance from Lucia I who scored a goal in each half.
St George’s started on the front foot with Layana firing narrowly over after excellent work from Laura to create the opportunity. Looking to make their advantage count with Kristy and Michaela exploiting the space on the wings, it only seemed like a matter of time before the deadlock would be broken. The moment finally came when Lucia I buried a free kick into the bottom corner giving the goal keeper no chance.
Michel Lucius started to get forward a bit more, looking to create opportunities for themselves, but chances were few and far between with Mia confident in goal and protected well by both Lucia I and Lucia C.
Looking to keep things fresh, Mr Mills brought on Ella and Anays in their first appearance for St George’s with Anays looking to get forward at every opportunity and Ella showing great tenacity in defence.
The second goal came midway through the second half with Lucia once again firing in this time following a corner. This was quickly followed by a third goal when an unlucky Michel Lucius defender made to clear the ball from another St George’s attack only to see the ball loop up into the air and over the goalkeeper. Still looking to score more, St George’s kept pressing their advantage all the way to the final whistle.
It was smiles all around at the end and the team was pleased with the win, while also showing an exceptional amount of respect, attitude and sportsmanship throughout the game.
