SUSTAINABILITY
Eco-Projects
St George’s Sustainability Team, Eco-Agents and students are always on the lookout for ways to reduce the school's impact on the environment. Here are some of their projects from recent years.

2021
Greenhouse
Students upcycled 1,000 plastic bottles to create a greenhouse. The finished product was a space for students to engage with nature and take part in gardening activities. The project has continued to thrive, leading into additional projects and helping to deliver on the School Climate Pledge commitment to protect and learn about biodiversity.
2022
Second outdoor classroom
Building on the success of the previous student projects, Year 7 students started upcycling old wooden pallets turning them into outdoor tables and benches. The project not only provided outside resources but promoted design and technology skills and encouraged outdoor lessons to help with wellbeing.
2023
Renewable energy bike
A cross-school project involving students from Primary and Secondary, the renewable energy bike project helped bring innovation and ideas for renewable energy into the classroom.
2023
Vegetable patch
Year 5 students planted and maintained a vegetable garden, growing produce to make soup for Le Courage charity.
2024
Tree plantation
Primary students planted trees around the Kiss & Fly for Earth Day 2024. In parallel Green Up Gambia planted trees with partner school Batokunku in The Gambia, helping to offset the school's emissions.
