Inside Luxembourg: Nobel Prize stories
1 July 2026
By Isabelle Frisch-Koopmans
As the school year draws to a close, I always feel a familiar shift – a soft exhale, a loosening of rhythm, a gentle invitation to step outside and let the long days unfold at their own pace. Summer in Luxembourg doesn’t shout – itglows. It hums quietly through warm evenings, shimmering lakes and the laughter of children running barefoot across the grass.
When my own children were younger, our summers were full of simple rituals: picnics by the water, sandy feet after an afternoon at a lake, and the first homemade lemonade of the season – always too sour at first, always perfect after a little adjustment. Even now, those memories return with the first warm breeze of June.
This week, as we prepare to say goodbye for the summer holidays, I’d love to take you on a small journey through Luxembourg’s summer landscapes – places where families can breathe, explore, and simply enjoy being together.
To make planning a little easier, here is an overview of summer activities grouped by age, a short preparation checklist, and two simple recipes for warm days.
