Friends of St George's

The Friends of St George’s is a group of parents and staff which organises regular social events, welcomes new families and fundraises for charities and initiatives like the school’s Art Scholarship Fund and the Lauren Patterson Memorial School in Uganda. The Friends are involved in the organisation of the Summer Fayre, termly family events, cultural visits and many other activities.

 

I really like to help the school through the Friends of St George's, and since I have some free time, it's nice to spend it working for a good cause as a lot of our fundraising goes to the Lauren Patterson Memorial School in Uganda. Through the Friends of St George's, I get to meet other parents and be involved in the school community. I started the jogging group because I like jogging and I wanted to share my passion with other parents. I think sport is a great way to bring people together and to meet new people.

Giorgia Della Zonca Friends of St George's Ambassador

Meet Giorgia

Giorgia Della Zonca has been a Friends of St George's Ambassador for three years. She has two children in Primary and likes meeting other parents through the Friends of St George's. Mrs Della Zonca started a weekly jogging group for parents to get together and explore the local surrounds. 

New families who would like help settling into Luxembourg can contact the ‘Friends Ambassadors’ – who are generally long-standing parents volunteering to support new arrivals – for advice and local knowledge of community and social activities within the school and beyond. This resource is for non-academic questions only.  

Parents are encouraged to join the Friends of St George's activities, which include weekly walking and jogging groups, and Lëtzebeurger Frënn, a social group for parents to practise speaking Luxembourgish and learn more about the local culture.
