Students introduced to Year 13

18 June 2025

Year 12 students took part in a two-day induction programme on 16 and 17 June designed to help them transition smoothly into their final year of school and begin preparing for university applications. The sessions, led by Head of Year 13 Richard Todd and Careers Adviser Anneke Hudson, focused on equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to apply to universities in the UK, EU, US and other international destinations.

Through a series of interactive workshops, students explored topics such as research methodology, writing personal statements and motivational letters, and navigating the various university application systems used across the world.

A highlight of the programme was a visit from two former students, Jonty Todd-Stewart and Amin Nabhan, both now in their final year at UCL London. They shared insightful reflections on their university experiences and offered valuable advice on managing academic and social life at university.

The students also participated in a Q&A session with university admissions representatives Dai Evans (Cardiff), Emily Ferris (Cambridge) and Sam Twells (Exeter), who offered insights into the academic expectations of university life.

Students now head into the summer break with clear guidance and renewed motivation to continue their preparations, both academically and in completing their university applications.

Thank you to Jonty and Amin for generously sharing their time, to Dai, Emily and Sam for their expert input, and to Mrs Hudson for her hard work in organising such a beneficial and inspiring event.
