St George's opens 2014 Art Exhibition
26 May 2014
St George’s International School, Luxembourg ASBL kicked off their Annual Art Exhibition with a spirited private view yesterday evening.
Approximately 150 guests admired amazing artwork and enjoyed music and crémant at the event, which was officially opened by the School’s Principal, Dr Christian Barkei. Students served canapés to the guests and also provided live musical entertainment.
The exhibition features artwork from all of the children in Early Years to Year 9, as well as works from students studying Art at GCSE and A-Level. Over 1000 pieces of art work were included overall.
Highlights in Primary included a feast of ceramic food, a terracotta African village, a 3D rainforest, and hundreds of drawings and prints.
In Secondary, students had created a large scale map of Luxembourg using the colour palette of artist Paul Klee, fantastic illustrations based on the work of Vic Lee and local Luxembourg landscapes.
The work by the exam students in Years 10-12 was truly fascinating. Each student exhibited a wide collection of works and their portfolios based on the work of both historical and contemporary artists – it was an amazing display of talent.
St George’s holds an Art Exhibition every year, with this year being the premiere of a private view with guests invited from the wider Luxembourg community along with members of staff, parents and students.
