Chris Bowen-Long
Chris Bowen-Long graduated from St George's in 2016...
I went to the University of Plymouth in the UK after leaving St George’s and studied international relations, achieving a BSc degree, during my three years there. After graduating in September 2019, I began working at Deloitte Tax & Consulting in Luxembourg as an analyst in Fund Registration Services, which involves working with clients for the registration and maintenance of their UCITS and AIF funds, not just in Luxembourg and Europe, but across the world. I am still at Deloitte in Luxembourg where I am now a senior consultant within the same service line.
I have experienced several highlights since graduating from St George's. One of these was the general experience of university – the independence you gain, the people you meet, the friendships and connections you build and being able to focus on and study something you have a real interest in.
It has also been a great experience working at a company such as Deloitte in my first job out of university. You meet so many people with different backgrounds, knowledge and experiences, and you really develop yourself and your skills in a work environment like this.
I have kept in contact with my close friends from St George’s. We meet up every year and go on holidays together, and even though we all live in different countries we still chat to each other every day. It’s easy to lose touch with your school friends when you go to university and then start working, but it’s so important to keep your friendships and connections alive.
