KS5 students learn about doughnut economics

  • Eco News

Years 12 and 13 economics, business, geography and biology students attended a workshop on regenerative economics with Jennifer Brandsberg-Engelmann, an experienced educator specialising in economics and humanities.

This is an annual event run for Key Stage 5 to explore sustainable finance.

Ms Brandsberg-Engelmann spoke about crises rises (metacrisis) which have a shared origin, degenerative economies. Students were then introduced to regenerative economics and the concept of doughnut economics where all human needs are met, without compromising the planetary boundaries. The group discussed and compared issues with extractive and divisive models, with more sustainable methods such as biomimicry.

If you have not heard of doughnut economics, here is a creative explanation from a Year 6 Eco-Agent: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCeEfXrt0Tb/?igsh=ODl3N3p6cXE4M3Q1
