Students demonstrated rhythm and fantastic coordination during the fourth annual Year 7 Step-Off Championships at St George's on Tuesday, 21st November.

The event was the culmination of a unit on South African gumboot dancing, primarily known around the world as step. Students spent the term, learning note, values, counting, and rhythms and creating syncopated polyrhythms. They then worked in groups to create original routines, using structured, formations, audible calls and precise steps.

Several guest judges, including Head Teacher Ms Simmonds, parents and students attended the show.
