Year 7 students celebrated World Book Day with an afternoon of activities based on the novel Boy, Everywhere. Written by A M Dassu, it follows the journey of Sami, a Syrian boy of their age, as his family flees the violence in Damascas via Turkey and Italy until they reach Manchester, UK.

The students watched a short presentation by the author and listened to excerpts from the novel before writing poems, letters and diary entries or creating graphic novel pages related to Sami’s story. They produced many excellent pieces of work which were praised by the author via Twitter – “Ah this has made my day! Brilliant work Year 7s!”
