Year 7 Talk to Primary During Science Week

07 February 2017

Students in Year 6 received a special lesson as part of Science Week last week. Year 7 students were keen to come in to the Primary school to teach students about friction and moving bodies. Using physical demonstrations, and with help from the Year 6 audience, the older students gave fun and interactive demonstrations of how friction works, along with some basics of acceleration and speeds of cars. All the more impressive was that the students delivered the presentation on their own and entirely in French. Special thanks to Macarena, Flavio, Leonardo, Aoibhe, Rahul, Thomas and Ronan who all shined as caring, knowledgeable and inclusive teachers.

Here are the thoughts from some of the Year 6 students shortly after:

  • Roma - “I enjoyed the science experiment from the year 7 because it was fun.”
  • Daniel - “I like how we could of tested it our self’s it was so amazing the year 7 did a good job.”
  • Lera - “The year 7 experiments were really fun. I really like how we could test the experiments ourselves. The explanations were clear and the experiments were interesting.”
  • Alexander R. - “I enjoyed the demonstration yesterday, as there were many interesting aspects of the experiments. The Year 7s really expressed themselves well, in French, and I learnt a few new words and things about the world that I didn’t know before. All in all, it was an amazing experience.”

  • Maghnus - “It was very fun including the audience in French.”
