Year 6 go back to Medieval times
26 April 2022
Year 6 students visited Vianden and Bourscheid castles on Monday, 25th April, giving them the opportunity to revise their learning about Luxembourg in the Middle Ages and bringing to life what it would have been like to live as a servant, soldier or noble person in those times.
It was fascinating to learn how the structures of the castles had changed over the centuries. At Vianden the students saw an interesting exhibition on the 'Princess of Schengen', a Celtic noblewoman whose grave is a source of information on what a well-to-do person may have worn at that time. At Bourscheid, the largest castle in Luxembourg, students discovered how defences were built, from the defensive walls and watchtowers to structures used to fool the enemy into traps.
