As part of investigating light, 1P students were busy learning about light sources used during a variety of light festivals. The class was split up into three groups, one group creating Chinese Full Moon Lanterns, another learning about the celebration of Diwali and creating Diwali Diyas, (a small lamp made out of clay) and the final group were making a Maypole, a midsummer Pole for the Scandinavian midsummer celebrations. Mrs Munari, from the board of Governors very kindly took the time to help the students create this traditional pole around which a maypole dance often occurs.
