The Friends of St George's Welcome New Parents

10 September 2019

Over 40 new parents attended a welcome coffee on Tuesday morning where they met key staff from school, a number of Friends Ambassadors and mingled with other new parents. The aim of the Friends of St George’s community group is to enable parents, and their children, to assimilate and become part of the wider school community which fosters integration and benevolence. We support a variety of local and international charities and in particular continue to assist a Ugandan school develop its facilities in the name of Lauren Patterson (a deceased former staff member – see St George’s Facebook pages for more information about the school).

There are a variety of fixtures during the year which are well established; Quiz night and Summer Fayre, as well as pre-loved winter/ski clothing sales and Easter egg sales to name just a few. Other regular activities include charitable lunches (more later), the adult choir group ‘Double Entendre’ and a weekly walking group. All of these activities are supported by our Friends Ambassadors who welcome others to join in helping at these activities and are always happy to answer questions about the social aspect of life at school and settling into Luxembourg in general. Volunteers are always most welcome to initiate new ideas and projects or help with the existing ones.

As more parents rely on the school app for information there will soon be a Friends page in the Information section of the app. Check the calendar for dates and upcoming events. We use the alerts only for important academic information.
