Pursuing passions new and old
3 September 2025
St George’s was buzzing with creativity, energy and talent as students participated in our Summer Schools programme in the final weeks of the holidays. With a wide range of activities on offer, there was something for everyone.
Arts and Crafts
Students explored their creativity through a variety of art and craft activities. Highlights included designing their own tie-dyed T-shirts, making shrink-plastic accessories and creating personalised badges. The sessions encouraged a playful approach to art and gave students the chance to take home unique pieces of work to treasure.
Songwriting and Production
Budding musicians spent the week diving into the art of songwriting. Through daily challenges and workshops, they learned how to craft powerful lyrics, develop vocal hooks and explore musical accompaniment. By the end of the course, students had begun shaping their own original songs, a fantastic showcase of imagination and expression.
Acting for Stage
In just five days, our young actors worked together to produce a show from start to finish. Collaborating across different age groups, they developed acting skills, teamwork and confidence, culminating in a Friday-evening performance in the Auditorium. It was a joy to see students’ creativity and hard work shine on stage.
Basketball Rising Stars
The sports hall came alive with energy as students of all abilities joined in a week of basketball training. Through fun activities, skill-based drills, and small-sided games, they developed both their individual skills and team play. The camp provided a brilliant opportunity for students to improve, compete, and most importantly enjoy the game.
Painting Workshop
Over three days, students immersed themselves in the world of painting. They experimented with texture paint, acrylics, brusho and ink, producing a varied portfolio of work. Along the way, they discovered new techniques, styles, and approaches to expressing themselves through art.
A huge thank you to all the staff and students who made our Summer Schools such a success. The enthusiasm, creativity and dedication shown by everyone involved have set a wonderful tone for the year ahead at St George’s.
