St George's Year 2 perform '25 Past December'

11 December 2014

Christmas was well and truly in the air today at St George’s, as Year 2 students put on delightful Christmas performances for their families this morning and afternoon.

The audience and the students on stage thoroughly enjoyed themselves performing ‘25 past December’, featuring a number of popular and original Christmas songs. The play, which was adapted by music teacher Mrs Morris, is about Santa Claus feeling under the weather and wanting to ‘skip Christmas this year’. His team of elves gather together and come up with a plan to make him feel better: A parade of toys! Toy soldiers, teddy bears, dolls and clowns all perform for Santa until he feels well enough to take his big sleigh ride.

Some of the most creative and enjoyable parts of the show were created by the "sound effects team", a group of students using several different instruments to create the illusion of rain, snow, wind, and the busy atmosphere of a bustling toy workshop.

The students did an excellent job of acting and singing; the production opened with the well-known "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and then included original songs such as "Santa Has a Cold (sniff, sniff)", "Look at the Snowflakes", and a Rock & Roll number by some well-choreographed teddy bears.

Congratulations to the students and staff involved with the production - you can be proud of a great job well done!
