St George's Science Week 2017

03 February 2017

Primary students have had a stimulating week entirely dedicated to Science! As part of Science week St George’s students have been taking part in a range of science-themed activities, not only to make students see that science can be fun but also to inspire any budding scientists amoungst them.

As part of the initiative, Year 7 Secondary students kindly demonstrated an experiment related to speed and friction for Year 6’s French class, not only was the experiment extremely well presented it was also all explained in French! Other activities included creating chemical reactions, making lava lamps, learning about the forces, creating parachutes, extracting strawberry DNA, creating bubbles inside of bubbles, manufacturing a mini volcano eruption using washing up liquid, entering toothpicks through balloons without them popping and so, so much more.

Parents were invited into school on Thursday afternoon to witness all the interesting science experiments the students have been involved in this week.

Weeks like this are so important for the students, to not only for them to learn more about the subject but for them to be more aware and interested in it.
