Shoebox Appeal spreads festive joy

16 December 2025

St George’s community donated more than 400 shoeboxes filled with gifts and joy for the annual Shoebox Appeal. Students from across the school worked together on Monday, 15 December, to collect and sort the donated shoeboxes. They also created gift bags, wrote heartfelt cards, wrapped donations and made Christmas decorations for the following charities:

  • Le Courage – a men’s and women’s shelter in Bonnevoie, Luxembourg
  • Luxembourg Women’s Shelter – Luxembourg Ville
  • LUkraine – supports children impacted by the conflict in Ukraine
  • HUT Refugee Centre – supports vulnerable refugee children

More than 200 students and staff filled the Hamilius Gym with energy, teamwork and festive spirit as they rallied together to support our local and international community. The collection was organised by St George's Eco-Agents and supported by the Primary School Council, Secondary Student Parliament, Year 10 students, and their student exchange guests from Max Planck GCE in Germany.

Representatives from the partner charities collected the donations on Monday afternoon. It was a powerful and moving experience to hear directly from those who will be distributing the gifts, learning about the real impact these donations will have and the happiness they will bring to recipients.

This wonderful initiative reflected the compassion, cooperation and community spirit that define St George’s, reminding us all of the importance of giving during the Christmas season.
