Shakespeare Workshop Day with Time2Act
12 April 2016
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 had an the unique opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of all things Shakespeare during a Shakespeare Workshop Day organised by the English faculty and the theatre group Time2Act who flew in from England to run the sessions.
The theme of the day was to demonstrate how drama and music can make Shakespeare come alive for students studying his plays and how to make plays like Macbeth more relevant to a modern day audience. Students were able to show off their acting, improvisation and creative skills and to demonstrate their understanding of Shakespeare’s language. The day was packed with activity, lights, action, music and all set against the backdrop of mystery, wrongdoing and backstabbing that makes Macbeth one of Shakespeare’s most enjoyable plays.
James and Clare from Time2Act were terrific motivators and inspired the students to view Shakespeare in a completely new light, they both were very impressed with the students involvement and the way they engaged with the day itself. Well done to the St George’s students who were a credit to themselves and the school.
