Secondary COBIS Games, Athens 2015
19 May 2015
On Wednesday 13th May, 14 students travelled to Athens to represent St George’s at the Second Edition of the COBIS Games, organised by St Catherine’s British School of Athens. After a stopover in Vienna, the team arrived in Athens, eagerly awaiting the forthcoming competitions.
Over the next 3 challenging days the competition was stiff, but each student showed a great deal of dedication and commitment. For the first 2 days, the students took part in athletics and swimming competitions at the Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens (site of the 2004 Olympic Games) and on the final day of the competition, students finished with a football tournament at the Peania Athletic Centre, the training ground of the Panathinaikos F.C.

This event was a great opportunity for the young athletes to compete and make friends with 15 other schools from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. These three days of sport showcased strong performances from all the participants and each athlete should be extremely proud of their achievements.
During their stay in Athens the students were lucky to have the chance to do a little sightseeing around the centre of Athens and take a stroll at the foot of the Acropolis.
Again, well done to the COBIS team for their sporting achievements and a big thank you to Mr Thomas and Ms McCrone for all their support!
