Earlier this week St George’s invited the Centre de Formation pour Conducteurs (CFC) to host safe driving workshops. These workshop is designed to raise awareness of road safety for our students aged 16-17 who are either thinking of taking driving lessons or have already started.

The training course took place in two parts; the first part consisted of an interactive presentation with video examples of the dangers of the road and the causes of accidents but also making it clear that it is the drivers’ responsibility to drive safely.

The second part consisted of practical exercises, it featured the 'Seatbelt Convincer' - a sliding seat on an inclined metal frame that simulates a low impact collision, thus demonstrating the benefits of wearing a seatbelt. Students also took part in simulations illustrating the effects of cars over turning, the students were also made aware of how important it is to stick to speed limits by measuring the braking distance covered during the reaction time.

This workshop is offered in all Secondary schools around Luxembourg, it is in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Education helped by the Police Grand-Ducale, the Automobile Club Luxembourg (ACL) and the Administration of the emergency services.

Workshops such as this one educating young drivers will not only keep them safer, it will also help make the roads safer for everyone. A huge thank you to the Centre de Formation pour Conducteurs (CFC) for taking the time to make our students more mindful about driving in the future.
