Ms Simmonds' festive message 2025
19 December 2025

As we reach the end of term, I have once again been overwhelmed by the generosity of our families. The Christmas Shoebox Appeal, led by the Eco-Agent Team has been an extraordinary success this year. At times, I could barely enter my office, with towers of boxes ready to be delivered to HUT Le Courage, HUT Women’s Shelter, Serve the City Luxembourg, and LUkraine. Each one reflects the kindness and compassion that make our school community so special.
This spirit of giving extended further through the Animal Shelter Wishing Tree. Families kindly donated gifts, and our Year 10 students took great pride in distributing them, ensuring that even our four‑legged friends were cared for this festive season. It has been heartening to see so many of our students actively involved in sharing kindness beyond the school building.
On Wednesday, our Winter Showcase brought the whole community together. The auditorium was filled with families and staff, gathered to enjoy performances from students across the year groups. The talent on display created a truly magical evening, a wonderful way to celebrate the end of a busy term. In addition, some of these performances were also shared on Monday at the Hamm Hospice, where our students performed in front of an audience of over 100 residents.
I would like to take a moment to thank our incredible team of staff. Their care, dedication, and tireless commitment shine through in everything they do for our students. St George’s simply wouldn’t be the community it is without them. Day after day, they go above and beyond, showing patience, kindness, and generosity. I feel truly fortunate to work alongside such devoted colleagues who make a difference not only in the classroom but in the lives of every child and family they support.
I wish everyone a lovely holiday and a peaceful New Year, with time to rest, recharge, and enjoy precious moments with loved ones.
Claire Simmonds
