MOgnificent moustache day at St George's!

28 November 2014

Today at St George’s Secondary students sported a mish mash of moustaches from stuck-on handlebars and walrus moustaches to drawn on pencil taches. This is the 6th year running when St George’s students and staff have participated in Movember, the annual event involving growing or wearing moustaches during the month of November to raise money and awareness for men’s health.

This year ‘Moustache day’ proved to be so popular that the students who didn’t come into school with a moustache were queuing up eagerly to have one painted on them for 1 euro.

Also in the bid to raise more money for this great cause, the secondary students hosted a mouth-watering Movember cake sale, selling homemade moustache decorated cakes. They looked so appetising that they sold out within minutes.

Eight members of staff also took part in Movember, they call themselves the ‘MOgnificent Eight’. Similar to previous years, these teachers have made a humorous video featuring a cowboy theme, it will be released on Monday 1st December.

Also on Monday 1st December, Mr Teale has bravely volunteered to have his moustache shaved off by the student who exhibited the most impressive moustache today!

Stay tuned for the video which will be published shortly on our website and also for the figures on how much we were able to raise for the cancer charities.
