Maths wiz wows students
23 February 2022
This week in Primary began with a visit from Dr Monica Neagoy, an esteemed international mathematician. She has worked with St George's staff on several occasions, highlighting the beauty of maths, and inspiring us with her knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject.
This week the children were the lucky recipients of her mathematical wizardry, with students from the Early Years to Year 6 benefitting from a model lesson in their class. Her particular focus was the use of concrete and visual resources to underpin learning. Her enthusiasm, energy and incredible knowledge was a joy to see as groups of children worked on high level maths, made easy by Dr Monica. Staff left the room invigorated, keen to try out the ideas in their classrooms.
The two days were a great success, which we hope to repeat again. Dr Monica has promised that on her next visit she will also include a session for parents. Check out her pictures on Twitter!
