The Gold qualifying expedition for Mérite Jeunesse took place from Friday 31 August to Monday 3 September in the Jungfrau region of Switzerland. Students hiked from Unterseen to Lutschental on day 1, then to Grindelwald on day 2, then to Lauterbrunnen on day 3 and finished at Grutschalp on day 4. The mountainous terrain was a true physical challenge – the reward was the spectacular views of the alps, glaciers, waterfalls and villages. Each team was self-sufficient for the 4 days, as per the requirements for Merite Jeunesse. Well done to these hard-working, cheerful and determined students.
