Teams battled it out on stage on Tuesday, 19 November, in the fourth annual Year 7 Step Championship, demonstrating incredible and disciplined routines using a type of body percussion.

Step is an iteration of the traditional South African gum boot dance, and has now morphed into a craze in many parts of the world. Step uses creative formation and multi-layered syncopated rhythms. 

Each group choreographed, wrote and rehearsed their own routines. Semi-finals were held in class and the nine finalists showcased their routines in front of the whole year group and a panel of judges, including Ms Simmonds, Mrs Clarke and other members of the leadership team.

In first place were "The Football Fellas", which included Alessandro OT, Julius W, Owen C, Timothee M, Leo K, and Zayi D.

"The Cowgirlz" team of Paula CG, Raquel H, Sarinah M, Ellie D and Mina V came second.

Third place was "The Soda Sisters" with Alexa O, Amelia D and Sofia PRL.
