Fame The Musical

26 June 2019

This end of year production marks the end of a fantastic year in Secondary Drama at St George’s. FAME is a musical set in PA, a performing arts school in New York which later became the world famous Juliard, part of the Lincoln Centre. A place that many of my year 10 students visited earlier this year on the drama residential to New York.

With references to The Seagull,  Romeo and Juliet and set in the 1980’s, this production of FAME also features echoes of other events from earlier this year which some members of the audience may recognise.

Year 9 were set the task of writing their own prologue for FAME. The first part of the show is entirely written by students themselves. The year 10 GCSE drama students have worked hard to stage the main body of the musical.

Whether this is their first appearance in a full musical or one of many, as their drama teacher I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them.
