Ianthe celebrates 100th Parkrun
3 June 2025
St George's Year 6 student Ianthe is celebrating her 100th Parkrun. It's no walk in the park though – she has clocked up 500km, equivalent to the distance from St George's to Lyon in France, Bruges in Belgium, Amsterdam in the Netherlands or Stuttgart in Germany.
Ianthe said she likes Parkrun – a weekly, organised 5km run in cities around the world – as "it makes me feel free and everyone makes you feel welcome".
Director of Milepost 3, Elaine Watson, said Ianthe's celebration was an incredible achievement. "That’s 100 Saturday mornings of lacing up her trainers, showing up and running with determination and joy.
"Running, jogging or even walking regularly isn’t just about fitness – it’s about resilience, routine and community. It takes real grit to get up early on a weekend, especially when the weather isn’t perfect or the bed is extra cozy. But Ianthe’s achievement reminds us that showing up consistently builds not only physical strength, but also mental toughness," Ms Watson said.
We hope Ianthe’s story inspires others to give regular running or walking, especially as part of a group, a go.
