MJ Gold treks across France and Switzerland

The Vosges in France and Interlaken in Switzerland were the setting for this year's Merite Jeunesse Gold Award expeditions. After two years of being unable to leave Luxembourg for treks, 14 students from Years 11 and 12 were rewarded with stunning scenery and destinations across the border.
Walking across challenging terrain for four days with heavy backpacks deserves recognition and the students successfully completed the expedition requirement, demonstrating excellent navigation and camp-craft skills.
Head of Year 12 and Merite Jeunesse supervisor Mr Roberts, who has worked with the group for the last three years, said it was a proud moment seeing them cross the finish line in Interlaken. "This award has challenged them, but I am sure they will all admit just how rewarding the programme has been. They will hopefully now complete the remaining requirements that will see them pass the award and receive their certificates in March 2023."
