Unearthing fun on World Soil Day

  • Eco News

Students didn’t just scratch the surface on World Soil Day (5 December) they dug deep to learn about the vital role soil plays in our lives.

More than 180 students braved 2°C temperatures, a blizzard and heavy rain to explore the wonders of soil science at the soil van. Packed with hands-on activities and expert insights, the roadshow wasn’t just educational, it was earth-shattering.

Jimmy, our resident PhD soil specialist and all round 'fungi' (fun-guy, get it?), turned dirt into delight, showing students how soil nurtures life, cleans water and even fights climate change.

Students learned that soil is more than the ground beneath our feet – it’s the foundation of life.
