Yes, if we have spaces available we can accept students during the year. The exception to this being Year 10 and above. For Nursery classes, if we have space available, there may be an intake of students at the start of the term in January and April.

Classes are kept small at St George's, with a very positive teacher/student ratio. The average class size in Foundation (Nursery and Reception) is less than 20 students. In Key Stages 1 and 2 we aim to have a maximum of 20 students in the class.

Tutor groups in Secondary are no larger than 22 students, although at iGCSE and A level the numbers in subject specific classes can be substantially less.

No, all applicants are dealt with on a first-come-first-served basis and are required to meet the relevant entry criteria. We are always happy to consider siblings and  remind current families in advance of the application window opening, in case they wish to apply for siblings to join the following year. Families are welcome to email the Admissions Officer at any time to check on availability and the timing of future applications.

Yes. St George's currently operates five private bus routes for its students in Reception class and above. Details of the specified routes can be obtained from the Admissions Officer and current parents can view bus information via the My School Portal. All buses have a radio link and a chaperone on board.

Public transport in Luxembourg is free to everyone. Public buses numbers #15, #25, and #27 have services to Hamm and the nearest stop is a three-minute walk from our site. The train station "Cents-Hamm" is also near the school, along with several other bus stops within a five- to 10-minute walk. A number of students are also driven by their families or carpool to school where they use our "Kiss and Fly" facility. If using the Kiss and Fly, please have your children ready to exit the vehicle with bags and coats ready. The driver must remain in the vehicle at all times. If your child is unable to exit the car independently, please park off site and walk to the school gate. Never park or leave your car unattended in the Kiss and Fly lane.

Public transport is free in Luxembourg, and many of our Secondary students take advantage of this to be independent in their travel to and from school. The majority of our families live within a 15- to 30-minute drive from school. Some families live across the border and commute, as is common in Luxembourg. Our five school bus routes were chosen and planned to be accessible to as many families as possible.

We currently have more than 70 nationalities represented among the student body. Therefore, every class is a wonderful mix of different cultures.

St George's does not require students to wear a specific uniform. We do, however, adhere to a dress code policy. The school provides a physical education (PE) red T-shirt and swimming hat for all NEW Primary students and a PE kit (tracksuit top/shorts/polo shirt) for all Secondary students' sports lessons.

We also have red zipped fleeces available for purchase through the Purchasing Officer.

Yes, it is possible to order canteen lunches. Students can choose a hot lunch provided by our school canteen, or bring their own packed lunch from home. Canteen lunches are prepared freshly on site and must be ordered by parents in advance, at an extra charge. All students are expected to bring a healthy snack and water bottle from home for their morning break. We ask that parents/students avoid all nut products in lunches and snacks.

To join Nursery, students must be 3 years of age or above before 1st September and be fully toilet trained and independent in the bathroom. The mandatory trial day visit to class is organised in April/May before the September start, and students need to meet bathroom independence criteria by this time. Many of the children beginning Nursery do not have English as their first language and English skills are acquired and extended during this year in Foundation. Nursery is a hive of activity and children are stimulated all day, without nap time. Children should no longer require a nap to make it through the day, as there is no sleeping time on site.

Students entering Nursery are not required to have English skills prior to starting.

Older Primary applicants age 4+ are assessed on an individual basis during their two-day trial visit to class to determine their needs and our ability to accommodate them academically. 

Secondary students are required to have fluency in English, both spoken and written, in order to cope with the demands of our rigorous academic programme.

Students from Year 1 have informal French lessons with our mother tongue French teacher in a variety of ability groups.

Yes. Health and safety is a top priority at St George's. A nurse is on duty at all times during school hours and many of the staff are also qualified first aiders.

No. We accept applications before you have completed your working arrangements in Luxembourg. However, as many families now require a visa to be able to move to Luxembourg and work, we strongly advise that you carefully read the details regarding accepting offers of place and the tuition fees that you become liable for when accepting offers of school places.

The school carries civil liability insurance. Students are insured in case of damage caused by the school on school premises during school hours, on school trips and school extra-curricular activities.
