Meet our Senior Management Team

Dr Christian Barkei, Principal

The Principal, Dr Christian Barkei, has worked in both the grammar school system in the UK and in senior positions in international Schools in Asia before arriving in Luxembourg in 2013. He grew up moving between Australia, the UK and Bavaria and has been part of a globally orientated family ever since. A graduate of the University of Durham, he enjoys the Luxembourg countryside and the history of the region. He and his wife Merrin (who comes from New Zealand) have two children who attend St George's.


Mrs Claire Nuttall, Head Teacher (Primary) / Vice-Principal

The Head of Primary, Claire Nuttall, has teaching experience in countries such as Gambia and Taiwan. Claire was the former Head of Henry Fawcett Primary School in London, where she helped improve the education offered there after it was judged “inadequate’’, today she is commended for its outstanding results. Claire and her family enjoy being part of the Luxembourg community. She has two children who attend St George’s.



Mr Mark Fleet, Head Teacher (Secondary) / Vice-Principal

The Head Teacher of Secondary, Mark Fleet, has extensive leadership experience in the UK and international schools circuit. Previously the Head of Sixth Form at St George’s, Mark has been at the school since 2010 and therefore witnessed all Year 13 graduations.  Mark is also a Peer Accreditor for CoBIS, performing accreditation visits in other international schools as part of a team.  Mark enjoys the multicultural nature of Luxembourg and has a young daughter who also attends St George’s.

Mrs Emmanuelle Kruten, Head of Finance & HR

Originally from Metz (France), Emmanuelle Kruten lived in New York and Mexico City before settling in Luxembourg in 2005. She has been working at St George's since 2009 and has been happy to be a part of the School’s life since then. In her spare time, she enjoys taking part in the many activities Luxembourg has to offer without the stress of living in a big city.  Emmanuelle now a proud bi-national French and Luxembourger.


Mr Laurent Remmy, Head of IT & Facilities

Laurent is a happy father of four daughters. Originally from Metz, Laurent has been living in Luxembourg for more than two decades and became a Luxembourgish national ten years ago. Laurent graduated in aeronautical engineering, throughout his career he had the opportunity to work in a variety of other fields, always IT and projects related. Planes will remain his lifetime passion!
He enjoys learning new things and has never stopped doing so.
Community life is very important to Laurent - he is a great sports enthusiast and he has been a very active member of the associations at Strassen municipality, he also founded NoSpeedLimit, the runners club in Strassen. Being at ease with animals, he also has a "running" dog ;). He is looking forward to his new adventure at St George's.
