The School’s Principal, Dr Barkei opened the Summer Fayre on Saturday morning with over 600 friends and members of staff.
Twelve international stalls offered a wide range of delicious foods and unique goods reflecting St George’s multicultural community. We had for the first time a Sixth Form Mixology stand producing extremely popular mock-tails, a Vietnamese stand, a Chinese stand offering personalised calligraphy and tattoo drawings and, also for the first year, a North African stand. Our traditional favourites from different countries in Europe and the Americas were also very popular. The children thoroughly enjoyed the bouncy castle, the pony rides and the LEGO stand kindly provided by ‘Bricks4Kidz’, the Djembe drumming workshops brought out the community spirit and the face painting stand was as popular as ever, not forgetting sponging the teacher, tug of war, traditional egg and spoon races and five-a-side football. Something was on offer for everyone!
Performances from the Primary choir and student String Ensemble were outstanding, showcasing student talent from all year groups. The school Dance Clubs put on a flawless performance which received a great deal of praise, Year 7 students rocked out on the quad and the students in Guitar Club strummed along to an enthusiastic audience.
A big thank you goes to our sponsors: Baybees Riding School who offered pony rides throughout the event, Awesome Cause Foundation who will double everything we raise for Lauren Patterson School in Uganda and to Moselle for providing the pretzels! Thank you also goes to all our wonderful sponsors who donated or gave contributions towards our raffle: BCEE, Eden Fleurs, Emile Weber, Eurest, Telstar, HLC Beauty, Home from Home, Tree Climber Park, Ion, Eirelux, Jasmina Van Doorn, Jen Uppenberg (for the Ben Carter print), José Garcia, Josy Clement, Lunchtime, LUXTP, Njord, Ruppert, She’s Cake, Starwash, Sweet Lily Factory, Top Squash and many more.
A well-deserved thank you also goes to all the parents, students and staff volunteers running stalls and putting on activities throughout the day and to the performers, dancers, musicians and singers for providing such high quality entertainment for everyone to enjoy!
All money raised will be donated to the following three charities: The World Food Programme, the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner and the Lauren Patterson School in Uganda.
These events really remind St George’s International School of how proud we are to be part of such an international and vibrant community. Thank you!
