Last week Year 8 students in English enjoyed World Book Day by celebrating the literature, customs and traditions of their own countries. Students presented and discussed with their peers a variety of books written in their native languages as well as bringing into school food synonymous with their own traditions and cultures. The students were able to sample Danish liquorice, Irish biscuits, Swedish sweets and South African roasted sweet potato. In addition students really enjoyed a mock Australian Salt Water Crocodile making an appearance to do battle with an Ice Hockey enthusiast from the Czech Republic as well as learning a little about why Hebrew text is read right to left. A truly eclectic mix of cultural traditions representing the passions and interests of our students.
