Year 12s teach machine learning

  • Wholeschool News

Year 12 students, Laura and Morgan, organised amazing Artificial Intelligence workshops for Year 6 classes as part of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and maths) Week.

In the workshops, Year 6 students learned how information is given to computing algorithms using binary code and how all images, text and data is converted into this code. The students then carried out a task, with the support of Laura and Morgan, to teach the computer algorithm how to recognise happy and sad faces. It was a fascinating workshop and gave the students a practical way to understand how machine learning works.

Thank you, Laura and Morgan for sharing your knowledge with the students. We are sure that you have inspired some Year 6 students to think about studying computer science when they reach Secondary.
