St George's achieves the National Quality in Career Standard award.
We are delighted to announce that St George's has achieved the National Quality in Career Standard using the Career Mark approach provided by Complete Careers (a Licensed Awarding Body). This is an excellent achievement and recognises the quality and breadth of our careers provision and confirms that we meet the very best requirements for career education, advice, guidance and information for our students. As part of the assessment, which took place on Wednesday 31 January 2024, an assessor from the UK interviewed 30 students in total from across each year group between Years 7 to 13, and 6 members of staff.
The Career Curriculum at St George's has been developed by our in-house Careers Adviser, Anneke Hudson, who is a Registered Career Development Professional with the CDI in the UK and has a Masters in Career Development & Coaching from Warwick University. She works alongside a team of Heads of Year, Form Tutors and the Deputy Head Teacher in charge of Personal Development, Mr Evans. At St George's we don't see "career" as just paid work/a job title, but as a lifelong journey encompassing all aspects of a student's life, learning and work. Therefore, our career programme aims to enhance students' lifelong career development skills and offers a skill-based approach.
