St George's guitar teacher Mr Schier performed in Vienna City Hall's big ballroom on Saturday, 5 October, in front of a crowd of more than 800 people.
His performance "Hallo Udo" was a tribute to the German/Austrian singer and composer Udo Jürgens, who would have celebrated his 90th birthday last week and passed away 10 years ago. Jürgens was based in Vienna and the city of Vienna invited Mr Schier and his band to be the musical part of an official annual award ceremony.
Click here to watch Mr Schier performing a guitar solo in a big medley about New York, based on Jürgen’s big hit “Ich war noch niemals in New York”.
Despite being a studied jazz guitarist, Mr Schier says his heart has always been with "rather wild rock music".
