Silver Merite Jeunesse students hike 60km

A group of students recently took part in their assessed expedition for the Silver Merite Jeunesse Award, hiking almost 60 kilometres during one weekend.

On the first day the students hiked from Wiltz to Kautenbach. On day two they went from Kautenbach to Enscherange and on day three they trekked from Enscherange to Marnach. They covered a total distance of between 55 and 60 kilometres, carrying heavy backpacks for the entire journey.

Along the way the students demonstrated their camp craft and navigation skills, impressing their assessor, Loic  Khelafa, who was monitoring their performance.

The students and their teachers were relieved that the weather was kind, and while the mornings were cold, they were rewarded with some stunning scenery in the picturesque northern region of Luxembourg.
