Merite Jeunesse Gold practice expeditions held

Four St George's Gold Mérite Jeunesse participants embarked on a cycling journey across Luxembourg from 3 to 6 April. The practice expedition was a crucial part of their Adventurous Journey section, designed to foster independence, resilience and teamwork.
The journey began in Schengen and followed a 60-kilometre route along the Moselle and through Grevenmacher and Wasserbillig before setting up camp in Echternach. On day two, the group endured a grueling uphill cycle through Vianden and towards Kautenbach before travelling towards Troisvierges, where they camped for the third night. Finally, the boys headed south through Clervaux towards the pick-up point in Lipperscheid.
Throughout the expedition, students adhered closely to the routes they had planned, ensuring they engaged in the required eight hours of meaningful activity each day. They cycled using their own effort, carrying everything they needed with them, and demonstrated remarkable self-sufficiency and endurance. The experience was not only physically challenging but also an excellent opportunity for the students to develop their problem-solving skills and bond with their peers.
This cycling practice trip was a memorable and enriching experience for all participants, laying a strong foundation for their upcoming final Adventurous Journey. We are proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them apply the skills they've learned in future endeavors
A Merite Jeunesse Gold practice hiking expedition also took place from 3 to 6 April in the Vosges region of France. The students had no problem navigating in a different country and worked very well together as a team. They braved the chilly nights and larger hills than Luxembourg to successfully complete this challenge. It was a pleasure to see how much the team has developed and grown since they started together doing their Bronze award and then Silver Merite Jeunesse. Congratulations!
