Journey along the Silk Road

  • Primary News

Year 4 classes set off on their own Silk Road journey to Baghdad from China, Europe and India, as part of their humanities topic 'Early Islamic Civilisation'.

Along the way they experienced challenges and ended at the souk (traditional marketplace) in Baghdad where they were only allowed to speak in their mother tongue.

Afterwards, the classes discussed the issues traders from the early Islamic civilisation had to overcome and some realised their trades may not have be as good value for money as they first thought.
