Curriculum Guide

Aim: To develop pupils’ understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of music in a wide variety of forms.

• pupils learn to perform a variety of songs suitable to their age and development;
• pupils listen and respond to a variety of music from differing periods, cultures and religions;
• pupils are taught basic theory and vocabulary, to enable them to better appreciate and perform music;
• pupils are introduced to the instruments of the orchestra, and have the opportunity to play some of them;
• guest artists are invited to give demonstrations.
